Denise Joy Is Committed to Mid-town Billings Community
Today Denise Joy announced her candidacy for the mid-town 3 seat on the Billings City Council. Denise is committed to making Ward 3 an economically vibrant, local business friendly, walkable, and recreation filled part of Billings.
“We need respect for residents and tolerance of our diversity”, said Joy. “Ward 3 needs a strong, tolerant and approachable person to vote and work for all residents.”
“Some fortunate residents of this city have their housing, economic and social needs met, but struggling working families do not. Families and children are the city’s most important asset. I do listen to the struggles of those without a comfortable retirement and those without the time to visit the city council meetings to be involved.”
According to Joy, the city council is an opportunity to set priorities and invest in the future. She, like many others, became frustrated with the political process after last year’s election. She began regularly attending council meetings last winter to better understand what was going on in local government.
“Watching the current council is often frustrating, said Joy. “There is more to running a city government than most people realize. Local governments need to invest in the future. I look forward to sharing my vision for the city and working with the residents and business owners of Ward 3.”
Joy is a Special Needs Assistant for School District #2 with a grown son. Active in the Amend Community Garden Advisory Committee and High Plains Women’s Museum Board, she continues to answer a deep sense of commitment to her community and it’s needs. Her family has been in south central Montana since the late 19th Century.
